Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20โ€“22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
